Officials from Rutgers and New Jersey Institute of Technology recently met to discuss the possibility of dismantling the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey , according to The Star-Ledger. The facilities that make up UMDNJ would be split up among Rutgers, NJIT and Rowan University if the plan ever moves forward. NJ.com community members are reacting to the news:

I do not want the UMDNJ to be dismantle or combined with the rest of the university. They were separated at one point because the Rutgers staff went on strike and the hospital was badly affected. This was bad for hospital patients and probably not good for the doctors either. I have family members who have graduated from the UMDNJ and I think the name is an important one to keep. I want to go to the UMDNJ for health psychology and I want to graduate with the UMDNJ on my diploma. Respond to this post directly by going to the comments section beneath the article.
